When you spend time with God in your ‘quiet time’ or devotional time, do you expect God to be there? Do you have a holy assumption that He is not only listening and watching you, but is just waiting, eager to bless you? Find out how to raise your faith expectation when you come to God in prayer....
Sometimes, especially if we are still getting used to spending regular devotional time with God, it can be hard to know what to expect. At the other end of the scale, if we have had powerful times sensing the tangible presence of God during these times in the past, we can feel disappointed by the expectation that this should always be our same experience. Yet God thrives on expectation. Expectation and faith go hand-in-glove because faith and expectation is God’s love language! Faith says God can meet with us. Expectation says He will.
Going deeper in our devotional life means lifting our expectation in God to meet with us, hear us - and answer our prayers. If you want some help to give your devotional life a kick-start - you can read our guide here.
Faith says God can meet with us. Expectation says He will.
In Matthew 7 v 11, the Bible records Jesus as saying: “So if you who are evil know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give good things to those who ask Him!”
Also notice that this wasn’t really a question, it ends with an exclamation mark! Jesus was trying to help people understand that God is good, through and through - He knows no other way to be towards you. Even the most generous parent cannot compare to the ability and willingness of our God to bless us.
What do you need God to do for you - to enable you to be a blessing to others? Because that's the place He wants you to be.. full, free, over-flowing and generously sharing your life with others.
